America Forever

God gave us mountains, God gave us trees,
God gave us this land, He gave us the mighty seas.

America Forever, forever you will see –
The stars and stripes forever
In the land of liberty.
It fills my heart with rapture, what God gave to me,
America Forever, America for me.

America you give us glorious days and star- filled nights.
Oh Lord, we thank thee, for thy mighty hand.

Narration:

We, the people of America have the responsibility to uphold our country through the bad times, as well as the good. Is it too much to ask to love our country for what it gives us?
Let us never forget or lose those symbols and what they stand for, that represent our Country.

The Eagle: that shows power and protection.

The Statue of Liberty: to show all people, that we have escaped the chains of tyranny and that we have won the right for freedom in America.
She holds the torch high in her right hand to show that we are a light unto the world.

Our Flag, Old Glory as many call her: And no matter how old you are, the flag still stands for the same things:

Valor: that we might have the courage to face the dangers that pursue us.
Vigilance: that we keep a careful watch for those dangers and difficulties that come into our country to defeat us.
Perseverance: that we might continue in a course of action in spite of difficulties or lack of success, to overcome all.

We must all stand up and be counted and pledge our very lives if necessary, to preserve our Freedom and our Country, as many men and women are doing at this very moment.
You see, it’s not the country that destroys the love; It’s people caught up in their pride one against the other.
Let’s never forget or lose the most wonderful possessions we could ever have:
Our flag, our country, our freedom, our family, and our God.

America Forever, forever you will see –
The stars and stripes forever
In the land of liberty.
It fills my heart with rapture, that God gave to me,
America Forever, America for me.
America Forever, America for me.

Why I wrote the Song:

In 1976, I was asked to write a song for the Bi-Centennial but somehow the right words just could not flow for the song. Three months later, I finally got the inspiration to write the melody and words to “America Forever”. I had the great privilege of being invited through Hazel Parks to sing this song and perform at the White House before President Jimmy Carter in 1977.
In 2011, I rewrote the song to strengthen the narration to have more depth and updated the arrangement to make it current.
